Coming of Age in Academia: A Study of Retired Faculty in the United Kingdom and the United States

Summary

This issue of Research Dialogue presents a summary and analysis of the results of a recent survey of retired university faculty from two academic institutions in the United States and two institutions in England. The survey responses provide a great deal of information regarding economic and psychological aspects of life in retirement and the transition from work to retirement among faculty members. The study also provides some unique information on cross-national differences in retirement outcomes.
