PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Author of Equal Pay in the Public Sector: Fact or Fantasy (Princeton University, Industrial Relations Section, Research Report Series No. 122, 1977).
  • Co- author of Faculty in the Arts and Sciences (with Albert Rees, Princeton University Press, 1991); and co-author of Finding the Best Business School for You (with Everette E. Dennis, Praeger Publishers, 2006).
  • Served on the boards of the NASD and the FINRA Financial Education Foundation.
  • Served as a "lead Fellow" of the TIAA Institute.

Sharon P. Smith is president of the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg and a professor of economics. She is the university’s fourth president and its first woman president. She also is chair of the board of Excela Health.

Previously, Smith was provost and vice president for academic affairs at National University – the second-largest nonprofit, accredited, private institution of higher learning in California – vice chancellor for academic affairs for the National University System, and dean of Fordham University’s Schools of Business Administration (now the Gabelli School). She is a graduate of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, where she also earned her Ph.D. in economics.
