PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS

  • Research associate with the National Bureau of Economic Research.
  • Awarded a TIAA Certificate of Excellence for his book A Prelude to the Welfare State: The Origins of Workers’ Compensation (with Shawn Kantor).
  • Received funding from the National Science Foundation to pursue several projects related to economic history.

Price Fishback is the Thomas R. Brown Professor of Economics at the University of Arizona. He also is the executive director of the Economic History Association, has served as co-editor of The Journal of Economic History, and is Fellow of the Cliometrics Society, which studies economic history using economics and statistics.

In the 1980s Fishback taught and conducted research at the University of Georgia and the University of Texas; he then moved to the University of Arizona in 1990. He has won numerous awards for teaching at the undergraduate, MBA, and Ph.D. levels. He earned his B.A. in economics and mathematics from Butler University and Ph.D. in economics from the University of Washington.
