Higher Education Fellows Symposium and 25th Anniversary Celebration

Oct. 10, 2023 | New York City

The TIAA Institute held its annual Higher Education Fellows Symposium, followed by a special reception and dinner at Carnegie Hall to celebrate our 25th anniversary.

At the symposium, we heard from the following leaders on a broad range of topics:

  • Hironao Okahana and Danielle Melidona (ACE) and Anne Ollen (TIAA Institute) examined the career paths and composition of today’s campus presidents and the future implications.
  • Mark Saine and Paul Yakoboski (TIAA Institute) and Kevin McClure (UNC Wilmington) looked at how colleges and universities can position themselves as employers of choice.
  • Anne Ollen and Stephanie Hale (TIAA Institute) previewed an award-winning documentary on Father Theodore Hesburgh and led a discussion on campus leadership.
  • Surya P. Kolluri (TIAA Institute), Bret Hester (TIAA) and Diane Ty (Milken Institute Center for the Future of Aging) explored how longevity literacy affects retirement readiness.

Afterwards, TIAA Institute Fellows and friends gathered to celebrate 25 years of building and sharing knowledge for TIAA clients and society at large. Speakers included Thasunda Brown Duckett (TIAA), Colbert Narcisse (TIAA) and Jim Poterba (MIT). Guests reflected the broad range of relationships foundational to our work, including scholars, higher education leaders and policymakers. These partners have always been critical to our success.
