Plan Sponsor Council of America (PSCA)'s annual Signature Awards – honoring excellence in plan communication and investment education – encourages the sharing of communication ideas and rewards excellence in defined contribution plan communication and investment education.
TIAA, together with the University of Richmond and Memorial Sloan Kettering , received awards for their excellence in the “Plan Changes” category. “Plan Changes” involve announcing changes in plans in a way that is easy to understand, educational, and engaging to employees.
University of Richmond
2nd Place - In early 2017, the University of Richmond (UR) investment education program informed eligible and existing participants in the UR retirement plans of the investment option changes at TIAA. Due to the complexity and volume of the changes associated with the transition, it was critical to offer clear and concise communications at all levels of the organization. An additional UR goal for these changes was to increase employee engagement by having faculty and staff attend in-person seminars.
Memorial Sloan Kettering
2nd Place - In the summer of 2017, Memorial Sloan Kettering (MSK) implemented a fund line-up change. While this type of change generally requires basic communications, MSK wanted to use the opportunity to rebrand and reinvigorate the plan, so they partnered with TIAA to create a full-scale campaign that announced the changes. The “Nurture Your Future” suite of communications reached over 20,000 employees, and placed an emphasis on the advice and retirement tools available to employees as part of their retirement plan.
The awards were announced on April 30.
