The National Business Inclusion Consortium (NBIC) named TIAA one of the "Best-of-the-Best" corporations in America committed to diversity and inclusion across all communities in 2020.
The Best-of-the-Best list honors corporations for their commitment to America's diverse employees, which includes LGBT people, people of color, women, and people with disabilities. This recognition is highly competitive and given to corporations that strive to strengthen and celebrate diversity. This award demonstrates TIAA's ongoing commitment to create a more inclusive culture for its workplace encompassing all diverse communities.
"We're honored to receive this recognition. At TIAA, we know a culture of inclusion and belonging is essential to our mission. We strive to ensure the safety, comfort and development of our associates, reinforcing workplace integration and diminishing stigmatization," said Melissa St. Clair, Vice President of Inclusion & Innovation Strategies at TIAA.
The NBIC examines and recognizes companies' Supplier Diversity programs as well, as part of the award assessment for the Best-of-the-Best list. TIAA's Supplier Diversity Program develops strong working relationships with suppliers owned by minorities; women; veterans; disabled people; and lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) individuals.
"Since 1992, when TIAA established its Supplier Diversity Program, we have been dedicated to building supplier relationships with minority-and women-owned business enterprises and promoting a diverse and unique supplier base. We are grateful for this recognition and will continue this important work, creating economic growth in the communities we serve and those of our participants," said Tiffany Keaton, Supplier Diversity Program Manager at TIAA.
Only companies achieving industry-leading results across all diverse segments are eligible to receive the prestigious Best-of-the-Best designation from the NBIC. The Best-of-the-Best awards were presented at the fifth annual Best-of-the-Best Awards Gala held virtually on November 19, 2020.
The NBIC was formed in 2011 by the National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC). The National LGBT Chamber of Commerce (NGLCC) is the business voice of the LGBT community and is the largest global organization specifically dedicated to expanding economic opportunities and advancements for LGBT people.
