Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer

Mr. Woodroffe is responsible for TIAA’s human resources strategy and execution for the company’s global workforce, including compensation and benefits, talent acquisition, organizational design and effectiveness, and inclusion and diversity. He also oversees the company's internal communications strategy, which focuses on driving the alignment and engagement of approximately 17,000 employees.
Joining TIAA in 2017, Mr. Woodroffe is the Senior Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at TIAA. Previously, Mr. Woodroffe held the Chief People Officer position at National Life Group. Prior to that, he served as the regional Head of HR at Sun Life Financial U.S., and also held executive HR roles at Financial Guaranty Insurance Company, and the United Bank for Africa. Mr. Woodroffe started his career and spent over 18 years at Merrill Lynch & Co., where he last served as First Vice President and Head of International HR based in London. He also led HR for Merrill Lynch’s Japan Wealth Management business unit based in Tokyo.
Mr. Woodroffe received his bachelor’s degree in international relations from Shaw University in North Carolina. He is an active leader in the community and currently serves on the Board of the Chapin School in Princeton, NJ, and the Board of Shaw University.
