TIAA Recognized by Forbes in 2023 Best Employers for Diversity List

Forbes, in collaboration with the market research company Statista, named TIAA one of the 2023 Best Employers for DiversityOpens in a new window. This is the second consecutive year TIAA has appeared on this list.

“Inclusion, diversity, and equity are at the core of TIAA’s culture and we strive to be as diverse as the clients we serve,” said Claire Borelli, Chief People Officer, TIAA. “While proud of this recognition, we continually refine our strategy and approach to inclusion, diversity and equity, recognizing we have work to do. Our commitment remains strong as we continue on a journey of building and maintaining a workplace where we all feel we belong.”

TIAA launched its Be the Change program in 2020 to fight against injustice and discrimination though education, engagement and open dialogue. Over the years, this initiative has helped create real change in communities. An example is the annual Race Against Isms, an opportunity for everyone to come together and race against “isms” such as ableism, ageism, classism, heterosexism, racism, sexism and size-ism. Money raised at these races each year go toward several scholarships awarded to students who are making a difference in their community.

Forbes and Statista surveyed approximately 45,000 U.S. employees working for companies across the country to determine their Best Employers for Diversity 2023 list. The ranking was based on several different criteria: employees were asked to evaluate their companies regarding age, gender, ethnicity, disability, LGBTQIA+ and general diversity; participants were asked to rank other employers in their respective industry that stand out regarding diversity; research was done to assess diversity-related practices within companies, such as resource groups and the number of diverse employees in executive positions.
