Forbes' list of The Best Employers for Women encompasses a wide array of industries, including financial services, media, education, healthcare, travel and leisure, and insurance. The selection process involved an independent survey conducted by Statista, gathering insights from approximately 60,000 employees in the United States, all hailing from organizations with at least 1,000 workers. This sample included feedback from over 40,000 women.
The evaluation criteria encompassed four essential areas:
- Direct recommendations - General work topics: Employees shared their perspectives on recommendation likelihood, work environment and development, company image, working conditions, compensation and benefits, workplace culture, and diversity within their own organization.
- Direct recommendations - Topics relevant to women: Women employees rated their employers based on parental leave policies, family support initiatives, flexibility in work arrangements, efforts to combat discrimination, representation, career opportunities for women, and pay equity.
- Indirect recommendations: Participants assessed the diversity initiatives of other employers within their respective industries.
- Diversity among top executives/board: An index was established to measure the representation of women in executive management and board positions.
This recognition stands as a testament to TIAA's continuous efforts to nurture an inclusive and supportive work environment for women. By prioritizing comprehensive parental leave, robust family support programs, flexible work options, non-discrimination policies, equal representation, and fair pay practices, TIAA aims to provide an empowering and rewarding experience for all employees.
