Describe the culture at TIAA. What makes it unique?
I was drawn to TIAA because of its mission-driven culture. Several family members have been TIAA participants for over 50 years. I enjoy watching over the retirement savings of people like them and helping it to grow.
Which of TIAA's corporate values resonate most with you, and why?
“Value Our People.” Over the years, I have had the great fortune to work with talented and dedicated people who are truly committed to our mission. Developing great investment professionals and helping them to achieve their goals is what I love to do most.
What is unique about how TIAA approaches social responsibility?
Our commitment always starts with us, as employees. For example, I was given the opportunity to start “Fruits of Employment,” a program that employs people with developmental and other disabilities on TIAA farms. FOE was the first inclusion-based work program in the field of agriculture, and it now employs over 35 individuals who have some form of disability.
