"I need financial advice for my specific needs, based on where I am in my career."
I’m 26 years old and am a communications instructor. I should be taking full advantage of my retirement plan at work – my older colleagues tell me it’s important to start when you’re young. But saving money is hard right now.
I use my paycheck for my living expenses, make payments on my $36,000 student loan and credit card debt, and go out occasionally. There’s not much left for anything else. I’m still driving the same car I had in college, which isn’t a big deal, but it would be nice to upgrade.
Saving for retirement seems to be a far-off goal for me right now. I don’t even know if I’m getting all of the matching money that I could from my employer.
It would be great to have an advisor who can give me just the financial information I need for my plan without lecturing me on the mistakes I’ve made with my finances. I’m open to meeting with an advisor in person to help me get on better footing. I just need to find the time.
