Enjoying her career and her life
Dr. Lenetta Lee serves as the Associate VP for Student Affairs & Dean of Students at a university. She says that the greatest joy of her job is in listening and talking to her students, interacting with them where they are. While retirement might still be a long way off, Dr. Lee has made saving for the future a top priority.

Pursuing other professional passions
I am a writer [and] I work with a graphic artist who writes books. I do the lesson plans for those books. I also do some public speaking. I’ve spent nearly 30 years in education, so it kind of comes easy to me, and I view myself as a role model for young people, so if I’m able to create lesson plans that are positive, but also have the latest in terms of what is needed for reading and writing, then for me it’s why not?”

Sharing wise advice with her students
“Know who you are and why you do certain things or why you’re not doing certain things. Choose your friends wisely…Don’t be afraid to let go of a friend who is doing the opposite of your own values. I talk to them about saving and getting a good job…I remind them that they have to collect tools…people and places and things that will help push them to the next step.”
