2025 TIAA Paul A. Samuelson Award Ceremony

On Jan. 3, 2026, we announced the winners of the 2025 Paul A. Samuelson Award for Outstanding Scholarly Writing on Lifelong Financial Security. This year the judges chose Taha Choukhmane (MIT), Lucas Goodman (Treasury), and Cormac O’Dea (Yale) for their paper “Efficiency in Household Decision-Making: Evidence from the Retirement Savings of US CouplesOpens in a new window” published in the American Economic Review, Volume 115, No. 5, May 2025.

Named in honor of the Nobel Prize-winning economist and former CREF Trustee, the Samuelson Award is presented annually by the TIAA Institute to recognize research that helps advance Americans' financial well-being.
