Sylvia is a Managing Director for TIAA Investments with research analyst and portfolio responsibilities. In her research role, she is responsible for covering global developed market banks and finance companies. Sylvia is also a portfolio manager responsible for global investment grade corporate credit, specializing in non-US dollar markets for the international bond strategies. Prior to her current role, she covered international companies in the consumer, pharmaceutical, retail and industrial sectors and also invested in private placements and lease finance transactions. Additionally, she managed the junior analyst research program. Sylvia joined TIAA in 2001.
She has 20 years of industry experience including an analyst role in investment grade research at Citigroup, where she covered transportation, aerospace and defense, paper and packaging, and other industrial sectors. Sylvia also worked in the asset-based lending group focused on distressed and leveraged financings. Prior to joining Citigroup, she was an auditor at Deloitte.
Sylvia holds a B.A. in English and Political Economy from Williams College. She also attended Exeter College at Oxford University for one year. She also holds an M.B.A. from New York University’s Stern School of Business with concentrations in Finance and International Business and an M.S. in Accountancy from DePaul University’s Kellstadt Graduate School of Business.
