Pamela started out as a middle school language arts teacher. Early in her career, when she was between teaching positions, she took a marketing position in commercial real estate. This move set her on a new career path that led to her current role managing real estate impact investing at TIAA.

What aspects of your experience before joining TIAA have helped you in your current role?

TIAA was a client in my former role with a global real estate services company.  Therefore, I understood the investment strategy and culture of the organization.

How do you explain what you do to people outside of the industry?

Mainly, I am charged with creating investment strategies for global real estate in the impact investing area, notably sustainability and affordability. We also seek to find strong investments in the opportunistic real estate sector, where we hope to achieve greater than core yields for our clients.

What do you enjoy most about working at TIAA?

I work within the industry I enjoy and am exposed to many different types of transactions, internationally and domestically. The opportunity to be a part of a group poised for growth is exciting.

What does giving back mean to you?

I believe to achieve a purposeful life, one must include philanthropy as a part of their daily life. Giving back can be as small as giving a moment of my time, or if I have been abundantly blessed in some way I will give back some portion of what I've received to help others.
