Company recognized for the ninth year in a row by Working Mother magazine for progressive programs that help working mothers succeed
New York, September 24, 2019 – TIAA, a leading financial services provider, announced today that it has been named one of the 100 Best Companies for working mothers by Working Mother magazine. The list recognizes employers for outstanding leadership in establishing policies, programs and a corporate culture that supports working moms, including child care, flexible work arrangements, paid parental leave for all new parents and the advancement of women. This year marks the ninth consecutive recognition for TIAA and the company’s 13th time receiving the award.
“TIAA is continuously grateful to be recognized by Working Mother for the culture, programs and resources we offer our working parents,” said Corie Pauling, Chief Inclusion & Diversity Officer and Head of Corporate Social Responsibility at TIAA. “Creating an inclusive culture where diversity can thrive ensures we remain a great place to work for women and mothers in particular. As our customer and business landscape evolves, we know our success depends on our ability to tap into the diversity of perspectives and experiences women offer. This is key to serving our diverse customer base and also growing our business and our talent.”
In addition to TIAA being recognized, Tracy Bohl, Lead Development Manager in TIAA’s Client Services & Technology group, has been chosen as a “Working Mother of the Year”.
“We are so proud to celebrate Tracy as TIAA’s Working Mother of the Year. She more than exemplifies the role of mother, mentor, and teammate,” said Jose Minaya, EVP, President and CIO at Nuveen and Executive Sponsor of Inclusion & Diversity at TIAA. “Tracy encourages and challenges her team members and mentees to do their best while encouraging inclusivity and modeling TIAA’s key inclusive leadership behaviors. She is a pinnacle example of the talent and commitment we have here, as we work to continue our support of all working parents.”
“I feel fortunate to work in an environment where women have the opportunity to grow, lead, and be their authentic selves. TIAA advocates for inclusion and diversity, and understands the needs and demands parents encounter in and outside of the workplace,” said Bohl. “As a mother of two sons in grade school, plus the primary caregiver of my mother who is fighting Alzheimer’s disease and cancer, I especially appreciate TIAA’s commitment to providing balance, flexibility and resources that allow me to be present both professionally and personally.”
Working Parent Award
TIAA expanded its long-standing annual acknowledgement of a Working Mother of the Year by adding its first-ever Working Parent Award, which recognizes a parent of any gender at TIAA who models a deep commitment to family, work and community. Christofer Yi, National Contact Center (NCC) Team Manager at TIAA, received this award and special honor. Yi is being awarded for his supportive business partnership with others, and his great mentorship to his peers – including to other managers. Yi is known for his joyful attitude and willingness to help his peers. His peers say he effectively balances his work so he can be present for the meaningful moments with his kids and wife, and encourages others to do the same.
